SA 4: Precious Metal Clay Workshop
Instructor: Alice Carroll

8 Weeks
Tuesday 2:00 - 5:00 PM (October 4 - November 22)

Precious Metal Clay will be available for purchase @ approximately $40 per ounce

Come join us in creating beautiful jewelry or small- scale sculpture made with silver metal clay, without having to be experienced in traditional metal-smithing or casting techniques. It is a relatively quick process for those who like complex images, but don't have the tools or the time and money to invest. Metal clay is made up of pure metal and a binder, which burns away during firing, leaving a piece made of fine silver. The process is the same as working with clay and lends itself to sculptural pieces that would be difficult to fabricate out of sheet and wire. Through demonstrations and plenty of time to work, we will explore forming the clay and a variety of approaches to achieve texture. Firing and finishing techniques will be discussed.
