(May 4 - June 22)
An introduction to full figure, portrait, and relief sculpture in clay with an emphasis on modeling techniques. Life models are used throughout the course to aid in the study of proportion and basic anatomy. Gestural sketches and analytic studies inform an understanding of the human form. Students will learn to prepare pieces for kiln firing. This class is suitable for beginners as well as more advanced sculptors who wish to work intensively with the live model. Firing pieces costs a penny a cubic inch in the Sanctuary Arts kiln.
