Learn how to create a botanical drawing with colored pencils. The pigments in colored pencils are translucent and can be applied in multiple delicate washes in much the same way as a watercolor painting. Students will learn many of the same principals as in painting, including how to mix color hues to create shadows, make colors recede and advance, and how to create harmony and contrast instead of mud. The colored pencil is also a very versatile medium creating many effects, including techniques such as sgraffito, impressed line and burnishing. All levels of students welcome.
