Do you have sculptural ideas and not know how to create them? This student driven course will explore, on a small scale, a range of sculpture materials to create images, make molds, and fire or cast individual projects. We will work in water clay and/or plasticene or wax, learn to make armatures, molds in rubber and plaster, and cast our images in materials that may include clay, plaster, copper- faced forton, cement, wax for bronze casting, and apoxy. Students interested in carving can learn to carve in slate or alabaster. This is a class whose structure depends on the interests and motivations of the individual student, taught by a professional sculptor who works in a wide variety of materials. The materials fee may need to be augmented depending on the quantity of materials used.
