Green Foundry at Sanctuary Arts is very excited to offer a lost wax bronze casting class this semester! The Lost Wax process is a technique used throughout the centuries to create bronze decorative arts and is still used today by professional foundries all over the world. Students will sculpt using microcrystalline wax, and will take it through the steps to bronze! We will discuss all aspects of casting and also learn about the process of applying patina to bronze. Each student should come equipped with ideas of sculptures that they would like to make. Charles Hahn's Wax Workshop is the perfect starter to this exciting class and students have the option of merging the two courses. Please note: Students using direct wax sculpting will have solid sculptures and size is limited.
