Students will learn the fundamentals of representational drawing in a relaxed atmosphere, using graphite and charcoal. Beginning with techniques on how to handle your drawing tools and exercises on how to read shapes and tones, you will progress to sketching, shading methods and completing a drawing. The course will cover contour drawing, perspective, composition and creative expression. Emphasis will be on the study of still life drawing, but will include some figure and landscape. More experieced students can use this class to advance their own drawing skills under the guidance of an instructor and choose to work on class studies or their own personal drawings.
