SA 10: The Draped Figure in Sculpture
Instructor:
Christopher Gowell
12 Weeks
Wednesday
6:00 - 9:00 PM
(January 23 - April 9)
Working with both clothed and unclothed models, this class combines a figure modeling class with the sculptural nuances of draped fabric and the romantic possibilities of both hiding and revealing form. The composition of drapery allows the sculptor a dramatic or narrative foil to the beauty of the nude. We will begin by creating quick clay sketches of the figure in a fabric tube, then focus on the nude figure and some academic drapery studies. An expressive combination of the nude entwined and enhanced with the convincing flow and folds of fabric will be our destination. All levels welcome.
