SA 3: Nature & the Book
Instructor:
Johanna Finnegan-Topitzer
June 14, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
This workshop introduces students to some basic ways to create a book and expand creativity through the structure of the book. Books can tell stories, convey ideas, or stand on their own as sculptural art objects. While learning book structures, students will spend time observing and recording the natural surroundings in order to incorporate this subject matter into their book design. Drawing, painting, photography, and collage may all be used to design covers and fill the pages of the book. With the newly learned skill of bookbinding, students will determine which structure is best suited to their ideas. Materials list sent upon registration.
