Instructor: Antoinette Schultze

10 Weeks
Monday 10:00 - 1:00 PM (May 19 - July 28)

No class Memorial Day, May 26

This is a flexible class allowing for personal style and interpretation of the torso. Students can work in marble or any stone of choice. Most students will work in the indirect method, working from drawings and models. Students will learn to visualize and block out the torso using hand and / or power tools. An emphasis on the mass and proportions of anatomy, plus the gravity, lines, and balance of each sculpture particular posture will be examined. Time will be spent on surface dynamics, light and shadow, rough and smooth areas, finishing techniques and presentation. This new class is offered in the Eliot carving studio of noted sculptor Antoinette Schultze. She will have a range of stone for sale, or students can bring their own. A tool list will be sent upon registration.
