Enameling is a form of fusing glass to metal to achieve color. This can be a shiny finish or a matt finish, and the colors can be opaque or transparent. We will discuss the differences in achieving these finishes, and will learn how to apply the enamel, through a variety of sifting techniques, using a brush as well as enameling on a form. Enamel can be fused to copper, sterling, fine silver, pmc and gold. Through demonstrations and projects each student will learn enameling techniques such as champleve, cloisonne, basse taille and the use of foils.
