SA 18: Beginning Oil Painting

This class provides a strong foundation for beginning students to explore color, light, and oil painting basic techniques through the study of still life and landscape. Classes will begin with a short techniques introduction each week. Beginning with still life, students will paint a simple white sphere, then progress to full color and more complex still life forms. Once students grasp basic color control and handling of paint, landscape observation, composition, and spatial relationships will be introduced. Individual guidance will be combined with group critiques.
