An introduction to full figure, bas-relief, and portrait-in-clay with an emphasis on modeling techniques. Life models are used throughout the course to aid in the study of proportion and basic anatomy. Gesture sketches and analytic studies inform an understanding of the human figure. Students will learn to prepare pieces for kiln firing. This class is suitable for beginners as well as more advanced sculptors who wish to work intensively with the live model.
