Steven Alden Carpenter
Steven Alden Carpenter, formerly a freelance artist in illustration and textile design, and now a figure sculptor, was introduced to stone while working as a landscaper. Recognizing the creative potential in the stones themselves with their limitless variety of form, color and texture, he put his energy into stone work fulltime in 1995, drawing instinctively on his artistic background. With each project he creates a work of art in harmony with the landscape, encompassing all forms of stonescaping, including the creation of outdoor garden environments, as well as fireplaces and stone walls.
"To touch a stone, to feel its weathered edges, its smooth worn curves, is to understand its possibilities."
