Tom Glover, 10 Weeks
Monday 10 – 1, October 5 – December 7
This course is designed to step from natural or representational painting into abstract painting, using either oils or acrylics. We will tackle subjects and begin to discuss and very subjectively begin to create and develop a personal vocabulary in paint. It will be a way to challenge some notions, explore the "construction" and structures of abstract representation, and "play" with paint. What is the difference between abstraction and nonrepresentational painting? What are the methods and aims of abstraction? What is the historic context of abstraction and when did it break onto the art scene? This course will be a work out for the mind as well as the brush.
