An introduction to sculpting the figure in clay, both in relief and in three dimensions, this class covers methods of blocking , proportions, planes, and basic anatomy. Models are used throughout the course. Quick studies and longer poses allow students to get a feel for figure sculpting. Students will learn to prepare pieces for kiln firing. This class is suitable for beginners as well as more advanced sculptors who wish to work intensively with the live model. Firing pieces costs a penny a cubic inch in the Sanctuary Arts kiln.
