“OLD MASTER” DRAWING

This class will introduce the experienced draftsperson to the drawing principles and techniques as seen in master drawings from the 16th century on. Students will prepare a range of tinted grounds and gessoed papers for use in drawing and use both multiple colors, (sanguine, black, and white conte) and crosshatching to describe form successfully. The class will proceed from drapery studies to the portrait, the draped figure, and finally, the nude.
