SA 12 CLASSICAL FIGURE DRAWING with Joshua Langstaff

$370.00

Thursdays, March 19 – May 7 (no class April 2)

7 Weeks, 6 – 9pm

This class focuses on the foundational skills needed to draw the human figure with convincing realism. After practicing their skills with short poses, students will work from a live model, to develop a sustained figure drawing over several weeks. Instruction will emphasize proportion, anatomy, and shaping light and shadow to create the illusion of form. Although this is a drawing course, students with prior experience—particularly those who have worked with the instructor—may choose to work in oil paint. The class is rooted in the classical atelier tradition, a method of training that shaped artists from Gérôme and Sargent to Cassatt and Picasso. Whether you're looking to deepen your draftsmanship or move toward painting, this course offers a focused, immersive experience in representational figure work. $65 model fee included in tuition.
