Bring your flashlights as we will be painting in the dark. No, not really, but we will be looking at the art created with the night in mind. From Caravaggio, Grunewald and Goya, to Magritte, Hopper and beyond. There were a number of artists experimenting with the night. This will give us an opportunity to look at new palettes, new sets of colors which can build darks but still be rich with color. Different artists we will look at can give us glimpses into how to handle darks—there’s color in the shadows! Any medium is welcome; experimentation is welcome. Source material can be landscape, moonscape, mind scape or any scape. Photos, internet or objects can be worked from too.
