One Session Saturday 9:30 – 3:30 June 6
Learn glazing, masking, & other cool watercolor techniques! This workshop will highlight the transformative technique of glazing. Layering transparent paint adds depth and creates unique, luminous colors. Especially when balanced with highlights. Saving “whites” in watercolor is important as it adds a sparkle to the image, pushing the values to the highest key. We will look at different ways to save whites (and “lights”), including the use of masking fluid. You will be guided through fun projects using glazes, masking fluid, and other techniques that will yield surprising results. Our subject matter will focus on ocean treasures such as shells, rocks, fish, seaweed, and sea creatures. Create an underwater scene or individual nature studies. There will be lots of specimens and references on hand to inspire you, along with demonstrations, group critiques, and individual help.
